Letter to Mayor Coleburn

August 18, 2008

The Honorable William D. Coleburn, Mayor
Town of Blackstone
905 Brunswick Avenue
Blackstone, VA 23824

Dear Mayor Coleburn:

I hereby request that you call a Council work session in early October of this year to review, debate and adjust the Town’s expenditures. This request is based entirely upon the need of the Town obtaining a credit instrument to facilitate the payment of General Fund monthly bills.

I appreciate and applaud the fine work of President Wilson and his Account and Finance Committee. However, acquiring this credit line in my opinion warrants the attention of the entire Council.

I would also request that you ask Council to issue a mandate to the Town Manager and Financial Director to have all accounts current and balanced prior to this work session.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter, and it has been an honor and privilege to serve our wonderful Town with you and our honorable members of Council.

I am quite confident that we will prevail against these financial headwinds, and as always I remain,

Respectfully yours,

L. Benjamin Green
Councilman At-Large
